Truth – TRF ~ True Real Fact

Here are two sets of Chinese characters expressing the concept of “Truth”. In Japanese, these Chinese characters would have been called "Kanji", a general term refering to any Chinese characters used in written Japanese.

Reading from top to bottom, the two characters on the right means “true-real” or could be seen to mean “really true”. In Chinese, the top character is pronounced as “zhen” and the bottom is “shi” while in Japanese they are pronounced as “shin-jitsu”. As far as I know, this set of characters is more commonly used amongst the Japanese.

As for the other set of characters on the left, the bottom character is pronounced as “xiang” in Chinese and “sou” in Japanese. Combined with “zhen” or “shin” as in “zhen-xiang” or “shin-sou”, it essentially means “true-fact”.

Both sets of characters use the word “zhen” or “shin” and so the red character in the circle in this picture can be used as a single symbol to represent truth. With “zhen” or “shin” being placed at the top of the other two characters below, one could in a way say that to get at the truth, you need the real (shi/jitsu) facts (xiang/sou) to uphold or support what is true!

So if you want the truth, then seek out what is real and check the facts! It’s as simple as that. :)
