I took this shot last Saturday and was thinking how sometimes even though we may chose to enter a certain way or path (hence, May Road), we need to be careful about that choice because we may just end up in a dead end (hence, the Dead End sign).
It’s just like when you are in a maze, certain decisions will get you closer to the exit but certain ones would lead you to a dead end. So make your choices wisely.
Eerily, yesterday there was an article in the newspaper supplement Digital Life about a lady name May Leong. I read it with shock and sadness of how after her last entry on 21 April about failing health due to being overworked and stressed out, she died two days later on 23 April. :(
Ironically she said in her last blog, “I don’t wanna end up dead for the sake of dough.” I feel sorry for her, her close friends, her family and especially her mother whom she was planning to take on a trip out of Singapore...eventually. But now it's too late.
So friends, make careful choice of the way you choose to tread or not tread. As much as I believe that when one is in a maze or a labyrinth, one should not give up too easily in finding a way out, we must also be wise not to stay at a dead end spot for too long. To find the way out, we must turn around from any dead ends. Life is more precious than that career advancement or getting that extra dollar or anything else that’s detrimental.
Please take care. Live wisely. Live well.

since I feel being on a dead end road, it is a great shot and also good thoughts. Knowing that I cannot take the wrong path even if it gets a bit harder, it is still a good imput. Thank you for that.

Hi Kairospix, your latest thoughts about choosing our way is very relevant to my life right now as i step into the working world. I wonder how much work will take away from me?
9 May 2007 10:19am
@Sojourn: Hi Sojourn, thanks for thoughts. I think work will take away as much as you would give in to it. Most of us think we have no choice or alternatives but we always do have alternatives. We just need ot be brave enough to take the road less travelled. I wish you the best as you enter the working world. Take care.
I'm a sign nut, so I like this. Never saw a dead end sign like that before, so it's a really interesting image. Nice job. :)

@Zing: tks!
i gotta agree on the being overworked and stressed part... even as a student. terrible. but we get thru somehow=P
10 May 2007 8:21am
@benjamin: yes we get through and hopefull get through alive... tks for sharing your thoughts :)
I often remember an article that I read long time ago. I don’t remember exactly, but there was this big shot lady (CIO I think) in some big US company. She was always overworked and stressed. One day she had enough, she moved to Greece and now selling tomatoes and paints at her spare time! And she feels the happiest then she ever was.
So I wonder, why are we working so much and for what?! We spend time with our co-workers more than we spend time with our families. And what all those money are good for? To buy a bigger house, better car, more stuff you don’t need?
Anyways, this is a photoblog and not psychic help forum! Lol I’m so glad I have this hobby by the way (Photography:)
This is a great shot. I like the dark background. Makes you not want to go there!

@alla: :) tks for your thoughtful reflections! yes photography is a great hobby which i've only recently picked up again after not touching it for years and years in the days of when we only had film cameras...i'm so glad for digital cameras as you can take and take and take then decide later which one are your keepers! saves tons of money i think!
tks for sharing about the lady who quit her high-flying and high-paying but high-stress job to become a tomatoes seller and just paint and just having a more sane life...just being happy :)
someday, maybe someday, i will get to also sell tomatoes but make great pictures with my digi-cam instead of paint and then feel happiest ever! :)
processed shot. nice work!

@kaveh: tks!
I agree and appreciate your style and story. But I must add that there are very few dead ends that are completely failures or wasted effort. Even dead ends can be a learning experience, I can mention many dead ends in my life I don't regret afterwards, although at the time they were dissappointments for a while.
11 May 2007 9:34am
@Erik Tjallinks: yes, you are right and am i glad that that is true too - that not all dead ends are complete failure or wasted effort. we can always turn around and we can always learn something from these experiences. i'm happy to hear that you came out better from your dead ends! just sorry it didn't for the lady though... :(
You bring up such important points for discussion. This one touches me particularly due to a very sad recent experience. Keep it up Kairo, your blog is fantastic.
