First, I have to say thank you to all who came by to visit my photoblog, giving your comments and sharing your thoughts! It has been most enriching reading what you all wrote!
Second, I have to admit that I’ve been finding it not easy to find enough time to reply to all your comments and thoughts within a day or two. I would try to my best to eventually get to answering all. Do come back every now and then to check when you have the time. However, if for some reason, I do not get to reply to your comments, feedback or sharing please rest assured that they are valued, welcomed and appreciated.
Anyway, today’s post is another arrow shot. But this time it has two arrow heads. One is continuously pointing within the lit area while the other is pointing towards ever decreasing light and into darkness.
At such a fork, which way would one take? Continue in the lit path? Or take the other and enter into darkness. The choice is ours to make and we face such forks all the time. They are more common than what we might think. They are prevalently everywhere, all the time!
Take for example the simple common daily task of having meals. You just finished your lunch and you see your colleague having dessert. You know you should keep to your diet regime but then another voice says to you, “Aw, it can’t be that bad to just have some dessert today. After all you’ve not had any for a long time. A little ice-cream won’t hurt.” One scoop. Two scoops. Then some more… darn there goes the diet plan.
But losing a diet is not as bad and as destructive when compared to say harboring bitterness instead of letting go and forgive. The more we hang on to the bitterness, the deeper we enter the dark side. And I’ve read somewhere before that if we choose not to forgive and let go, this bitterness will eventually find its way from us to our next generation and beyond! That’s how dark things can get if we are not careful to choose to stay on the lit path. And the scary part is that it’s always extremely easy to take that left turn and enter the dark path. Almost second nature. But we must choose not to be engulfed by it.
So which way would you chose?

@Laurie: tks! :)
this is a really creative shot! i like the way you make the ordinary seem so extraordinary as always. i take a second look at these arrows when i cross the road nowadays lol. is the orange light from a street lamp? im really curious as to how you take your shots!
11 May 2007 12:35pm
@Sojourn: olo! haha... but do be careful of the traffic! actually this was shot in day light :) it was the post processing with Adobe LightRoom that helped me get what i had in mind :) i know there are debates out there as to whether by using a post processing software makes these shots less great since it's not shot with all natural settings but i can't help remember what the famous landscape photographer Ansel Adams once said, "You don't take a photograph. You make it."...i'm not surprised he said that because as far as i know he uses various darkroom techniques using different chemicals to get his final print :) so today we have the modern version - the digital darkroom or lightroom...just sharing some thoughts on that... :) but hey tks for dropping by and i appreciate your words of encouragement! tks mate :)
lovely and significant post!

@Myst: tks! :)
It is hard to forgive - tht is something I find extremely hard to do. I guess we have to learn, because I do not want to live my whole life in bitterness. And I know that if I had done something wrong, I would want forgiveness too. So why shouldn't I extend that to someone who needs it too?
11 May 2007 12:46pm
@Celialee: tks for your honest sharing, appreciate that! to be very honest - me too, i find it hard to let that bitterness melt and vapourise, especailly the one who wronged you didn't say sorry or worse still they go on with life oblivious to having hurt you... :( but you are right too in that as much as we want to be forgiven we must forgive... follow the Golden Rule - do unto others the way you want others do to you but there are times we may need to figve even when not asked or when the person who wronged us don't even seem to think they have wronged us... perhaps we shoudl remember these words, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
interesting picture thought provocing nicely done

@Stunner: :) tks!
Great series on direction & arrows. Reminds me of a hotel I once stayed in where every room was decorated by a different artist and the artist who decorated my room had a thing for arrows for the same reasons you state (I had pillows, doors, mirrors, tiles, rugs, everything in the shape of an arrow in this room!)
12 May 2007 2:09am
@Lydia: wow! way way way cool hotel room! what's the name of this hotel? maybe if i have enough money i may make a trip and visit it and ask for that aroow theme room :) can you remeber the artist name? anyway tks so much for dropping by and for sharing your expereinces! now i know there's a hotel room somewhere in the world with an arrow theme! cool! way way cool! :) i just love coming in to AM3 to learn new things from all AM3 members and visitors! :)
