Life – Count Down Lights

It’s Friday again!

It’s been a week of being on high oscillation (hi osc). But the count down lights to the weekend has begun and there’s only about another 7½ to 8 hours before it’s time to wind down the internal clock and relax.

It’s good to have count down lights. They help indicate how long more something has to go on before the end comes.

Count down lights can be like little beacons of hope, especially when you wonder how long more you have to bear with something.

Count down lights can also mean the marking of an end of a period of time, an era or even an epoch, such as the end of the year.

Count down lights can also mean the start of something new such as the count down to launch the Space Shuttle towards another exciting space mission on the International Space Station.

Counting down lights can also mean each day, hour, minute and second that ticks by means less time to live and a step closer to death.

The count down to the number of our days for each of our individual lives started the day we were conceived within our mother’s womb and will continue to tick lesser and lesser as we move towards the day when we are finally resting eternally in our tombs. From womb to tomb, time counts down.

Question is, are we ready when the last count down lights goes out?

Someone once noted that we shouldn’t be asking the question, “What are we living for?” but rather “What are we dying for?” because the truth of the matter is that every breath we exhale is a step closer to our last.

So we need to treasure each moment of our lives. We should not be so caught up with building our careers or living out our plans that we keep postponing spending time on what really matters for eternity.

King David once wrote…

You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Each man's life is but a breath.

Selah

Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro:
He bustles about, but only in vain;
he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.

So we need to watch our count down lights and to ponder over our days here on earth.

Have a meaningful and worthwhile weekend. :)
