Life – Zooming Lights

Today, it’s a public holiday in Singapore. I’m glad for it as it’s good that we can take a break from the hectic pace of work life which this shot seems to signify.

Here we see lights zooming up and down as car after car zip by. The streaks of red and orange give a sense of things speeding.

But where are we speeding to? Why are we zipping around? Does getting things done fast mean it’s better?

Maybe and maybe not.

I guess being able to get from place to place faster does have it’s usefulness like it saves us more time to do other things or in an emergency to save lives as those crucial seconds could mean life and death.

But I sometimes wonder if in these modern times and age of instant noodles, coffee and video-on-demand, the time saved has somehow trapped us into doing more work than is necessary such that even though we have invented ways to save us more time we are not necessarily any more less in a hurry these days.

I guess living a less hurried life is really something we have to conscientiously schedule into our lives or the extra time we supposedly have saved to give us more time may not make much of a difference.

Just a thought for us to spend some, hopefully, leisurely time to ruminate and contemplate over. :)
