Life – Discoveries In The Water I

To be honest I think this shot doesn’t look very promising as a visually attractive shot. Quite bland and plain looking I think. I suppose part of the reason is the murky water. I was two minds as to whether to post it or not.

But because it connected with something that got me thinking after I watched the movie Bourne Ultimatum, I’ve decided to go ahead to put it up for today.

This bottle sticking out of a murky part of the water in the small lake at Punngol Park was one of the first discoveries in the water that day.

Someone must have been partying there I think.

How the movie Bourne Ultimatum made me come back to this shot was how it ended. But for those who are not aware of the movie, it is the third and last installment of a three-part trilogy about an amnesiac named Jason Bourne trying to discover his true identity in the midst of a CIA initiated conspiracy of which Bourne is the central “problem” that CIA had to get rid off.

The first two movies are called Bourne Identity (2002) and Bourne Supremacy (2004). If you are interested in the plot of these two previous movies you can read it here and here.

Anyway, in Bourne Ultimatum, Jason Bourne finally found out his real name and eventually how he became Jason Bourne in a cold-chilling sinister way that even Bourne or XXXX (don’t want to spoil the movie now) himself was shocked to finally remember.

So how is this related to the shot above – all I can say is that in life we ought to be careful about being a willing opened bottle like the one shown in the picture because once you are very determined to be open to something and allow it to come into your life, it can grip you so much that it can literally transform you into something else.

And if what you determinedly allow to enter your open mind is like the murky water as shown in the shot then beware of what you may end up doing that may even shock yourself in the end, of which you and only you have to be answerable for.

So I was reminded how important it is to be careful of what is already murky and deep down inside ourselves, such as our strong passions and desires, because if we allow them to engulf our minds like open graves, we are just heading towards actions that we will regret.

While what the CIA did in the movie was not right (actually in real life it has done quite a lot that was very wrong), Jason Bourne or XXXX ultimately has to be responsible for his own willing opened determination to want to join the CIA special black-ops group that he allowed them to control him to the extend of doing the unthinkable and so lost his soul. Perhaps maybe that’s why one movie review said this final part was about Bourne searching for his soul.

So my friends, are you aware of what might be lurking in the murky deep within you that may cause you to become so obsessed with a particular goal that you become open to anything just to get it and in the end lose your soul?

Maybe you may want to catch that movie and do some soul searching…
