Life – Alone In The Water I

Yesterday, I posted a shot of a lone boy strolling along the small lake at Punggol Park.

Actually before he strolled off he was at one point examining something by the edge of the water. Could this be what he was looking at?

Maybe.

I like how the shadows have been cast by the sun rays in this shot. They add to the sense of lonely melancholy to this snail all alone in the water. It gives a “Just me and my shadow” kind of feeling.

The unmoving shell also metaphorically gives a sense of withdrawal as you cannot see the body of the snail within at all. It’s all shut up.

I guess sometimes in life we tend to feel this way. We just want to withdraw and be alone by ourselves. Don’t you have these withdrawal days?

I think it is okay to withdraw into our shell so as to recuperate from what ever that has impacted us in an unpleasant way but be careful of what you think when you are withdrawn. Because your thoughts make you. As I’ve shared in a previous post, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” How and what you chose to think will eventually either rejuvenate you or cause more unhealthy feelings that would give you no peace. Watch out for those dark shadowy thinking…

Watch out for how your views of things can darken your thoughts and emotions. Be careful of “awfulizing” and “catastrophizing”, and check if it really “must” be that bad and things “should” be the way I think it “should” be. Usually they are not.

May we all become better thinkers and live better lives.
