Life – Another Big Ship In the Water

Posted by kairospix (Singapore, Singapore) on 29 September 2007 in Transportation and Portfolio.

Although this ship is smaller than yesterday’s, it’s nonetheless another big ship in the water.

I remember as a newbie young teenager I once innocently asked an usher manning the queue to the ship M.V. Logos, one of the world’s largest floating bookshops, why if a nail made of iron sinks into the water that a big ship made of iron floats. I was not trying to be funny or cheeky. I was really curious to know. But he looked at me with a wry smile and said something to the effect that I should not be asking such rude questions!!!

Gosh I didn’t mean to be rude. I was really just trying to understand.

Of course now I know – it’s the hollow in the ship as well as ballast tanks which help big ships stay afloat even though they are made of iron or metal.

I guess in life you can easily be misinterpreted by people around you even though your intentions are good and not devious. You can’t help how people misinterpret you or treat you but you can certainly choose not to allow that misunderstanding or mistreatment get to you.

Like the big ship here, you need to let faith and endurance into the ballast tank of your mind and heart to keep you staying afloat. I believe that was how Rebecca’s mum and ‘po-po’ survived through trials and tough times leaving behind such a rich heritage. Want to see how these strong women look like? Have a look here.

Cheers for the weekend and may you always fill your ballast tank with faith and endurance, and stay afloat.
