Life – Single By The Water (Singles’ Day)

Posted by kairospix (Singapore, Singapore) on 5 October 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

The last couple of days I had posted several shots in celebration of days for couples like Parents’ Day, Family Day and Couples’ Day.

And then I remembered those who are singles.

So today’s shot of this single by the water is for you singles out there.

Sometimes singles have to face some insensitive remarks and queries like “Why aren’t you married yet?”, “So when is your turn?” or “Two is better than one because when you are old who will take care of you?”

Once again people just assume that since it’s the norm to get married you should too otherwise you are out of line, out of logic or maybe out of mind?

But we forget that there are many singles who live very meaningful lives and done great things for example Mother Teresa, Amy Carmichael, Robert Murray McCheyne, John Stott and many others.

Even C.S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and many other books, was a single all his adult life until he was 58, and even then his married life was a short 4 years before he was single again.

And there is Jesus of Nazareth.

So dear singles, you are in very good company!

As this shot shows how this single is looking out into the vast expanse of the sea, remember to look beyond your singleness to the vast opportunities and adventures ahead as a single.

Happy Single’s Day!!!
