The last two days I posted two shots of lovely water droplets on the blade of a leaf. Those water droplets seem to exude a sense of life.

As I walked past the beach front at Pasir Ris Park, I saw this lonely dead tree by the water. It was sad to see it so lifeless. Perhaps it has given up on living a long time ago?

Sometimes life can be really hard and the zest to live can wane. With so much to overcome, sometimes we lose heart to live, to really live. We want to give up.

But perhaps we should listen to the words of this song and “Dare To Live (Vivere)” again…

Dare to Live (Vivere)

Try looking at tomorrow, not yesterday,
and all the things you left behind
all those tender words you did not say
the gentle touch you couldn't find
In these days of nameless faces
there's no one truth, but only pieces
my life is all I have to give
Dare to live! Until the very last
Dare to live! Forget about the past
Dare to live!
Giving something of yourself to others
Even when it seems there is
nothing more left to give

Ma se tu vedessi l'uomo (But if you saw on your doorstep)
davanti al tuo portone (the man who sleeps in a)
che dorme avvolto in un car-tone (cardboard box,)
se tu ascoltassi il mondo una mattina (if you were to listen to the world)
senza il rumore della pioggia (one morning without the noise of the rain,)
Tu che puoi creare con la tua voce (you, who can create with your voice,)
tu pensi i pensieri della gente (you think the thoughts of the people,)
poi di dio c'è solo Dio (then, about God, there is only one God.)

Vivere nessuno mai ce l'ha insegnato (Nobody has ever taught us how to live,)
vivere non si può vivere senza passato (to live is not possible without the past,)
vivere è bello anche (to live is beautiful even though you)
se non l'hai chiesto mai (never asked for it;)
una canzone ci sarà (there will be a song)
qualcuno che la canterà (and someone to sing it.)

Dare to live!
Searching for that one true love
Perché perché perché perché (Why, why, why, why)
non vivi questa sera (do you not live tonight?)
Dare to live!
You know what I'm talking of
Perché perché perché perché (Why. why, why, why)
non vivi ora (do you not live now?)
Dare to live!
Until the very last
Perché perché perché (Why, why, why?)
la vita non è vita (Life is not life)
Your life is all you have to give
perché non l'hai vissuta (Because you did not live it.)
Vivere (To live.)
Dare to live!
Until the very last
Perché perché perché (Why, why, why?)
la vita non è vita (Life is not life)
Your life is all you have to give
Perché non l'hai vissuta mai (Because you never lived it.)
I will say no
I will say yes
Say dare to live!
Dare to live!

Friends, may you always dare to live!
