Here’s a peek at a teacher looking intently at a programme sheet while listening to students perform their song for the school’s song festival where classes compete with each other at each grade level to clinch the right to perform at the city’s junior high school song festival.

What was he thinking? Perhaps assessing if the choir’s singing was up to scratch to be chosen? He wasn’t one of the judges but being a teacher trained to assess students, his natural instinct to evaluate must have kicked in.

Assessments, they are happening all the time in our lives even when we are least aware of it. Perhaps it has become second nature to us?

But let us be careful of what we allow into our minds as we evaluate because a thought can lead to many consequences and our thoughts can be wrong.

Think carefully. Judge cautiously. Act judiciously. Live wisely.
